About the Role
The Senior Buyer will be responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and purchasing materials, equipment, and services required by the company. They will also be responsible for managing supplier relationships, identifying cost-saving opportunities, and ensuring timely delivery of goods and services. The Senior Buyer will collaborate with other departments to support their needs and objectives.
Gathers and analyses benchmarks for pricing and contract terms.
Develops solicitation specifications based on internal and external sources of information.
Analyses proposed pricing against historical costs, other contracts, and industry-recognized indexes.
Possesses and demonstrates strong knowledge of policies, procedures and execution strategy
Ensure supply and scheduling of assigned suppliers / commodities.
Reduce supply risk
Manage electrical and mechanical product and the associated supplier base.
Develop and implement competitive sourcing strategies for the commodity spend.
Project management – NPI – Support a number of projects simultaneously and promote early supplier engagement for NPD
Maintain the highest ethical standards, even when challenged from above
Understand and live by the companies ethics and business conduct policies
Protect the commercial position of the organization at all times.
Works closely with other procurement team members in support of procurement and contract activities.
Leads and develops strategy for formal supplier negotiations and supports other procurement staff with similar activities.
Monitors vendor commodity market and industry developments to identify appropriate opportunities to maximize cost savings and quality of procured goods or services.
Conducts regular business reviews with vendor executives to review and discuss vendor performance, contract activities and negotiate contract enhancements and price decreases.
Conducts ongoing vendor and contract management to ensure vendor compliance with contractual obligations.
Builds and manages business relationships with internal and external vendors to facilitate effective contract management and sourcing outcomes.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
Minimum of 5-10 years of experience in procurement or purchasing.
Strong negotiation skills and ability to identify cost-saving opportunities.
Knowledge of procurement policies, procedures, and regulations.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience with procurement software and tools.
Experience in leading and mentoring procurement staff.
